It was a pretty absurd decision that the Philadelphia 76ers made by organizing their training camp in Colorado. As per reports, Nick Nurse wanted his players to prepare for the 2023-24 season in the same state “where the Larry O’Brien resides”, as per Sam Amick. However, the Pennsylvania side first had to obtain the permission of the Denver Nuggets in order to do so. As soon as the details of the Philly training camp were made public, Kevin Garnett couldn’t control his laughter on X [formerly Twitter]. Further, the NBA legend also hilariously compared Nikola Jokic to Suge Knight.

Nikola Jokic is among the best basketball players in the world right now. That said, his domineering love for other activities – primarily horse riding – is well known. After winning the 2023 Championship, the Joker wasted no time in traveling to Serbia. Videos showed that Jokic had a great time with his horses, along with constant partying. Despite doing all of his favorite activities, the two-time MVP revealed how he actually got bored this summer due to the extra 2 and 1/2 extra months of basketball. Seems like Jokic is subtly flexing that he’s become habituated to winning accolades every year.
The 76ers had to take Nikola Jokic & the Nuggets permission to train in Colorado
Hosting their training camp in the Denver Nuggets’ state, the Philadelphia 76ers had to reportedly take Nikola Jokic and Co.’s permission. According to an NBA writer – Sam Amick, Nick Nurse thought of it as an opportunity that would benefit his players physically and mentally.
Kevin Garnett was among the many who couldn’t get himself to believe the reports. Laughing at the fact that the Sixers needed to get the Nuggets’ permission, KG compared Jokic to Suge Knight. Admittedly, the comparison between these two polar opposite figures seems quite random. But by drawing parallels to Knight, Garnett implied that the superstar controlled the movements in Denver.
Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are two of the best centers in the league. Considering the fact that the two of them are constantly compared to each other and in continuous competition with each other, it seemed like an odd decision to train in the Joker’s backyard. That said, Nick Nurse’s ideology to… nurse a competitive fire in his players can hardly be argued against either.
James Harden participated in the Sixers’ training camp
James Harden has been quite outspoken about his issues with the Sixers franchise. Despite publicly shaming the General Manager and refusing to sign a jersey, Harden made his way to the training camp.
The Sixers even received a pep talk from Deion Sanders.
In only a few week’s time, we’ll get to know whether or not this roster is ready to compete for the title. Facing the powerhouses – the Celtics and the Bucks – will be a tough task, but certainly not an impossible one.
