Russell Westbrook posted a Martin Luther King quote to keep the Wizards’ morale high despite their 0-4 start.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy,” Westbrook wrote, citing the late Dr. King.
Despite averaging a triple-double through the first 4 games, Russ has been an inefficient shooter. His shooting woes are far from their biggest problem, however, as a weak bench has severely limited them. The chances of them making the playoffs have become that much slimmer.
Orlando and Indiana – 2 teams they’re expected to compete with – have both gotten off to much better starts. The Magic are one of the only 2 unbeaten teams in the league right now, sitting at 4-0. The Wizards have their tasks cut out for them in what amounts to a shortened season.

Can Russell Westbrook lead Washington to the playoffs this year?
The Wizards’ offense has largely not been a problem. They theoretically have enough shooting around Russ to improve his chances of a double-double every night. However, they have very rough, unpolished defenders, most of whom are still learning NBA-level play on that end.
This makes their playoff hunt a tough one. There are a ton of teams with the ability to score in bunches, even in the East. The Hornets, Hawks and Bulls are all capable of lighting up teams on their night. Where the Wizards have to gain a step is on the less glamorous end.
It will be a difficult road ahead, but the Wizards do have the experience of Russ to guide them. Westbrook has not missed the playoffs when he has played without injury.
