Former teammate and NBA champion Kendrick Perkins is awe-struck after watching Kevin Durant calls the Game 5 performance his greatest ever

The Brooklyn Nets seemed to be in big trouble going into Game 5 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Kyrie Irving was ruled out for the game due to an ankle injury he sustained in Game 4. Though there was some good news for the Nets fans with James Harden returning to the lineup.

Durant had major pressure going into Game 5 since he was the sole offensive weapon of the Nets. Critics and analysts called it the toughest game of KD’s career. The fact that he had been on super teams in the last 5 years. Game 5 was going to be his ultimate test to prove if he is what many people call him – the best in the world.

Durant was under major scrutiny going into Game 5. His performance in Game 4 was one of his most inefficient performances in a long time despite having a 28 points double-double.

Kevin Durant put up a spectacle at the Barclays Center

KD was unstoppable in Game 5 as he had a perfect stat line by the end of the night. Durant had 49 point triple-double that included 17 rebounds and 13 assists. The 2x Finals MVP shot a magnificent 69.6% from the field and 44.4% from the 3-point line and also had 2 blocks and 3 steals at the end of the game.

Durant played all 48 minutes of the game becoming the first player to do so since LeBron James in 2018 during the playoffs. KD also hit a clutch 3-pointer giving Nets the edge in the final moments of the match. Former OKC teammate Kendrick Perkins took a dig at the critics who have doubted him over the years owing to the super teams he has played on.

Perkins also took a shot at the Bucks’ defense, especially former 2020 Defensive Player of the Year Giannis Antetokounmpo, whom Perk accused of ducking KD during the entire game. Giannis Antetokounmpo called “Kevin Durant the best player in the world right now” during his post-match media interaction. It would be interesting to see how the Bucks guard KD in Game 6. Game 6 takes place on Thursday in Milwaukee.
