It feels as though the greater you are as a player, the more nicknames you have bestowed upon you. When it comes to Kevin Durant, there’s perhaps no greater offensive threat than him in the history of the NBA. So, it makes sense when you think about how many different nicknames the Phoenix Suns superstar has collected after 15 years in the league.

The most common nickname that Durant goes by is the initials of his first and last name, ‘KD’. This is incredibly common for players across the league as it’s the easiest way to shorten someone’s name like Jayson Tatum to ‘JT’, Kentavious Caldwell Pope to ‘KCP’, Shai Gilgeous Alexander to ‘SGA’ and the list goes on.
In today’s NBA, it’s become common practice to have someone’s nickname just be their initials which in all honesty, is very lazy. Having creative nicknames like ‘The Big Aristotle’ and ‘The Truth’ is when the league was at it’s best in terms of monikers.
Kevin Durant is some brilliant nicknames
Perhaps one of the greatest nicknames in league history is the one Kevin Durant has been using for the longest time ‘Slim Reaper’ is one that Durant has owned up to and even addressed recently this past December. When asked about why he resonates with it, he said it was because he’s skinny and does his best work at night.

Another nickname of KD’s is ‘Durantula’. This stems from him being skinny and just that fact that he’s as feared across the NBA as a tarantula is in real life. Another incredibly popular nickname of his is his Instagram handle that he’s had for quite some time now: ‘easy money sniper’.
Once again, ‘easy money sniper’ has do with his skills and how he’s a ‘sniper’ from long range. ‘Easy money’ is just a way of letting people know he’s money from deep.
Kevin Durant had a hilarious moment with David Letterman
David Letterman’s one-on-one with Kevin Durant on his Netflix sit-down show came to be from an incredibly hilarious and wholesome interaction the two had prior. Letterman was at one of Durant’s press conferences some time back and he would ask the ‘astute’ question of why he was being called ‘KD’.
Kevin so graciously gave him the obvious answer and David noted down his answer. Of course, this was all satire but some folks on the internet, for whatever reason, couldn’t tell that the man asking the question was the David Letterman and that he was kidding around.
