"Kobe Bryant Was a God to Us": Klay Thompson Felt Honoured To Share the Court For the First Time With the Black Mamba

Kobe Bryant is perhaps one of the most popular players in NBA history. An icon of the sport, Kobe had a storied career in the NBA.

20 seasons in the league, yielded five NBA Championships, an MVP award, and a lot more for the Black Mamba. His performances aside Bryant’s mentality and dedication to the sport are what won him much support.

At one point, the man was so popular that many considered him to be a “God”. Like, Klay Thompson, who took pride in sharing the court with Kobe.

Klay Thompson was honored to share the court with a “God” like Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was a player, considered by many to be the second coming of Michael Jordan. With averages of 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists, he certainly was the closest thing we got.

Given the high expectations that were set for him, and how close to meeting those he was, it comes as no surprise that he was revered. Players treasured the opportunity to share the court with him, and Golden State Warriors guard, Klay Thompson was in awe of Kobe.

To the point, where he even described the Black Mamba as a “God” on the All the Smoke podcast.

“You finally get to step on this court with him, you’re like, “This is crazy man. You’re like a God to all of us”. That’s how it felt every time with Kobe. I know everything about your career. I remember you won the dunk contest with the between the legs. When you made your first All-Stat game in 98 with Eddie Jones and them. Everything. Like to be there…you don’t want to be a fanboy, but you really are one.”
Safe to say that Bryant didn’t really fall short of Klay’s description. He truly was a heck of a player, and some of the things he did on the court almost seemed supernatural at times.

Kobe proved he was from another word when he dropped 81 points on the Toronto Raptors

Kobe Bryant had one heck of a career and some tremendous highlight reels. From dunking on superstars to wrecking players with his smooth offensive abilities. But, one of the most insane things the Black Mamba ever did, was dropping 81 points on the Toronto Raptors.

It certainly was an otherworldly performance. One that cemented Kobe’s greatness in NBA history.
