“Kyrie Irving is excited to return”: Nets GM Sean Marks reveals star point guard’s reaction to the James Harden trade, assures fans that he will play soon
Sean Marks finally broke the silence from the Nets front office on the Kyrie Irving situation in a press conference today.
Kyrie Irving has been mysteriously missing from the Brooklyn Nets starting lineup due to personal reasons. He has missed five games so far and there is no clarity on when he will return.
However, Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks said that Kyrie is excited to return to the Nets. Additionally, he added that the Kyrie situation had nothing to do with their decision to acquire James Harden.
Sean Marks when asked if Kyrie’s situation affected the Harden trade: “They’re completely separate from one another. … I have talked to Kyrie. I know he’s excited about getting back on the court with his teammates as soon as possible.”

The Nets GM also claimed that Kyrie has been routinely testing for COVID-19 and is in compliance with safety protocols. This declaration comes shortly after the league had decided to investigate Kyrie Irving for potential violations of their COVID-19 protocol after a video surfaced of him partying. Despite providing all this information, Sean was unable to indicate when Kyrie would be back.
Will Kyrie Irving work alongside Harden and KD?
On paper, the Nets currently have the best team in the league. However, having three huge locker room personalities might backfire. The Nets organization has been gracious enough to let Kyrie deal with his absence on his own terms.
However, his absence has adversely affected his team’s performance. The acquisition of James Harden could pose similar problems due to his outgoing lifestyle and sometimes lax attitude. However, Harden is hungry to win a championship and is likely to be more serious in Brooklyn.
The Nets did everything they possibly could to acquire James Harden and in doing so compromised their future and their defense. Sean Marks had justified the same during his recent press conference by saying that the move was essential. Only time will tell whether this explosive combination will take the league by storm or implode.
