“Leave Kevin Durant alone”: Shannon Sarpe goes off on Warriors head coach Steve Kerr for ‘hateful’ comments on Nets MVP Kevin Durant

Shannon Sharpe rips on Steve Kerr for saying that the Warriors last season with Kevin Durant was “less fun” than last season.

Seems as though any team that aspired to be, or was a dynasty, had internal turmoil that eventually led to the roster breaking apart. The Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls had to deal with Dennis Rodman’s antics and Scottie Pippen’s unhappiness with his contract. The early 2000s Lakers featured Shaq and Kobe, both of who despised one another for a multitude of years.

In recent memory, the 2016-19 Golden State Warriors come to mind when thinking about a group of superstars not meshing all too well together. According to multiple sources, including head coach Steve Kerr, the first two years of Kevin Durant’s stint in the Bay Area was more or less sunshine and rainbows.

However, in a recent statement made by Steve Kerr, he compares Kevin Durant’s last year with the Warriors to the Warriors’ 2019-20 season, claiming the latter was much more enjoyable. KD even responded to this on Twitter simply writing, “This is hilarious,” questioning the legitimacy of Kerr’s statement.

Shannon Sharpe says Steve Kerr needs to let Kevin Durant go

Steve Kerr took to a postgame presser following his comments on the two seasons to clarify what he meant. He claims his opinions were taken out of context and was unhappy with how Twitter spread certain quotes about him disliking the 2018-19 season more than the Warriors’ abysmal 2019-20 season.

Shanonn Sharpe took to his show Undisputed to share his thoughts on this Kerr-Durant debacle. “Steve Kerr; you should be upset that you said it publicly, not the guy tweeted it. That’s what you said, what did you expect to happen. You know Kevin Durant is ultra-sensitive.”

“You spent that entire year walking on eggshells. I get it, KD didn’t come back. He wanted to go and do his own thing. Let the man go. You got what you wanted out of it Steve, damn.”

It’s so secret that the Warriors locker room in 2019 wasn’t as jolly as years prior. From the outside looking in, it was obvious Durant was unhappy both with coaching staff and certain teammates, most notably Draymond Green.

There seems to be no love lost however as KD was seen in good spirits around his former Warrior teammates when the Brooklyn Nets faced off against GSW this season.
