"Never put LeBron James in the same sentence as Michael Jordan": NBA Fans react to Suns knocking LA Lakers out of playoffs with 4-2 first round series win

LeBron James led the Lakers to his first first-round exit of his 18-year career. NBA Twitter is beside itself with glee, roasting them after their exit.

The LA Lakers were strongly tipped to win their first-round series against the Phoenix Suns this year. In fact, they were -110 betting favorites going into the series. However, a string of unforeseen mishaps and poor play by the Lakers meant that they finished their title defense pretty poorly.

Losing Anthony Davis to groin injury proved to be the major difference-maker for the Lakers this time around. The big man demonstrated that he’s the bread and butter for the Lakers on both ends of the floor. He was ominously conspicuous by his absence in Games 5 and 6.

LeBron clearly looks way off 100% judging from how he’s played in this series. This will refuel speculations about whether the Lakers star can ever get back into championship mode. It seems that the Lakers have the werewithal to come back next season.

However, this is the Suns’ and Devin Booker’s moment. We should let NBA Twitter and the whole of basketball fandom mock the defending champions with the shortest title defense in league history. It lasted all of 8 months for the Lakers.
