The statement was released by LeBron James back in 2010, after his infamous decision to leave his hometown club Cleveland Cavaliers for Miami Heats on ESPN’s show “The Decision”
ESPN shared a video on the backstory of the 2010 “The Decision” episode with LeBron James, revealing the criticism ESPN and LeBron faced during that time.

James’ decision was heavily criticized, as the announcement on national television was not expected by any sports pandit at that time. Many reports said that LeBron has done this on purpose and some were criticizing ESPN for the coverage, as James was a free agent in 2010 and ESPN used the opportunity to bring something exclusive to attract the audience.
LeBron James ‘The Decision’ was a fan’s idea
The idea for LeBron to reveal his decision on the ESPN show was a fan’s idea. Drew Wagner has recently been spoken to, as the backstory behind ‘The Decision’ is to be aired on Sunday.
Drew, who is a Pistons fan, confirmed that it was indeed his idea, that was implemented by ESPN.
“That was me,” Drew Wagner(a fan) said.

“I remember everyone was talking about where LeBron would go, and it seemed to me that LeBron should do the same thing these kids do and announce it live on TV.
“I used to enjoy those Simmons mailbags quite a bit, and I thought it would be a fun idea to send it.” he added.

LeBron James was drafted as the top pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2003. From there LeBron never looked back. From 2003 to 2010, James won the MVP award two times and featured in all-star games for 6 times in which he was All-Star MVP twice.

After playing for Miami Heat, he went back to his hometown club Cleveland Cavaliers, and lead them to the NBA tile in 2014. Before that James won the NBA title two times with the Heat.
