Luka Doncic Equals Dirk Nowitzki in "40-point record" as Stephen Curry Gets Called for Travel in Dying Seconds during a Wild Clash

Luka Doncic is the man of the moment. Tonight, he was simply on fire. The Dallas Mavericks edged out the Warriors 116-113 today and it was all about the Slovenian Phenom. In what was a wild game with 10 travels, including one on Curry during the dying minutes of the game, Luka stole the show.

Doncic was everywhere, he recorded a 40-point triple-double and broke an insane amount of records. More than that he solidified his claim to the MVP by beating the defending champions.

While it may not mean much in the grand scheme of things games like these are pivotal when it comes to securing individual accolades. You play like the best player and win games, you become the MVP.

Just how many records did Doncic, equal or break? More than we can count but let’s take a look.

Luka Doncic breaks a number of records in a wild game

Are you ready? Because Luka sure was. And one thing was made certain today, just like he loves playing against the Clippers, he also loves playing against the Warriors.

And he likes a matchup against Curry.

Another day, another record.

Tonight’s game proved that he was in a league of his own this season. Nobody else has 40-point triple-doubles this season, except for the MVP frontrunner.

More importantly, he tied Dallas Maverick legend, Dirk Nowitzki, in 40-point games for the franchise and he’s only 23!

Stephen Curry and the Warriors with a rare collapse during the dying seconds

On the other end of the spectrum, the Golden State Warriors had a game to forget. This should have been an easy win for Stephen Curry and co. Klay Thompson got an open look during the last play and he missed.

The Splash Brother was horrendous tonight and we can’t help but think this is a one-off performance, marred by bad luck.

There were also these travel calls, 10 in total, including this one on Stephen Curry during the dying minutes.

The Warriors simply didn’t have luck on their side and Luka was there to ensure that the Mavericks took home the win.
