It seems like the words ‘Luka Doncic’ are on everybody’s lips, and why not?
At just 22-years-old (Yes, he isn’t even 23 yet), he’s consistently been giving the LA Clippers, the business. Every game that the Mavericks have won during this run, and even one of the ones that they lost, this Slovenian star has shown up and been a serious triple-double threat. Overall, unstoppable wouldn’t be a bad word to describe him on the offensive end during this series.
Now, Doncic doesn’t get many comparisons to Michael Jordan at all, and why should he? The difference between their games is night and day.
But, the player recently has managed to do this one thing, that only His Airness managed to do before. And yes, we are taking LeBron James into consideration as well when we say that.

Luka Doncic becomes the second player with this incredible scoring stat, trailing only Michael Jordan
Now, calling Luka Doncic a scorer wouldn’t be right. No, he is frankly just an elite floor general, who simply knows how to get his, in any way he wants. However, scoring is indeed a massive part of his game. And, a recent stat put into perspective just how good he is at it.
After 11 games in the NBA playoffs, all of them coming against a contending Clippers side, the star is currently averaging 32.8 points per game.
Now, you may be saying ‘Yeah well, that’s nice. But nothing to be raving about.’ And, to that, we reply, with this tweet by StatMuse.
Highest playoff PPG of all time (min 10 games):
33.4 — Michael Jordan
32.8 — Luka Doncic pic.twitter.com/f7xclDMXiy— StatMuse (@statmuse) June 3, 2021
You read that right. Luka Doncic is now only behind Michael Jordan in the highest points per game in the postseason. What only makes this more impressive, is that these two are the only players to average 30 or over in this category. The third player on the list is the great Allen Iverson, whose average stands at 29.7 points per game.
As for LeBron James, he comes in at 6th on this list with 28.7 points per game.
Now, to be fair here, Luka Doncic has only played 11 games in the postseason so far, so it’s fair for some fans to be skeptical. However, to these fans, we also ask this. Are you really willing to bet against Luka Doncic?
