“Michael Jordan is the GOAT, Charles Barkley is 3rd”: Shannon Sharpe ridicules rapper Rick Ross for his bizarre list of top 5 NBA players of all time
Rick Ross hilariously placed Charles Barkley 3rd on his GOAT list after Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Shannon Sharpe was audibly astonished.
While a rapper is definitely not an ideal basketball talking head, we’d have thought Rick Ross was less of a casual. The Miami born rapper is famously friends with Dwyane Wade. The duo have even released a song called ‘Season Ticket Holder’.
Understandably, Rick Ross is a fan of LeBron James for his time at South Beach. That did not convince the 44-year-old, however, that the Lakers star is the GOAT. Appearing on the Club Shay Shay Podcast, the ‘Hustlin’ hitmaker gave his take on the GOAT debate.
Born in a generation that grew up on a staple of Michael Jordan and the Bulls’ threepeat runs, Rick Ross naturally falls on the Jordan side of the debate. But that was possibly the only correct take he had in this debate.
Rick Ross lists Charles Barkley 3rd on his all-time list after Michael Jordan, LeBron James
Shannon posed his customary guest question on the Club Shay Shay podcast to Ross – his basketball GOAT. Ross replied up front:
“The GOAT is Michael Jordan. LeBron James came to my city of Miami and turnt my city up – without a doubt. You know Shaq did it with D-Wade, LeBron definitely turnt my city up. But when we say the GOAT now, the greatest of all time – that’s what Michael Jordan is.”
“Of course I know what LeBron is, he’s no. 2 for me. I got Jordan 1, Bron 2 and number 3, I’mma go with Barkley.”
“WHAT!!!???”
“I love certain kind of players. I love OGs. That what I love about Jordan so much. Jordan looked like a college student, but he was hard.”

Rick Ross proceeded to round out his top 5 players of all time with Shaq and Kobe. While Shannon mercifully didn’t probe him further on his Shaq pick, he gave him some more heat for picking Kobe over Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
