"Miles Bridges posterizes Clint Capela": Hornets' high-flier becomes a Dunk of the Year candidate with a murderous slam over the Hawks' center

The Hornets may have lost a close one to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon. But Miles Bridges gave us what could be the dunk of the year.

With LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward both out at least till the playoffs with injury, the Hornets are going to have a real job staying afloat in a top-6 berth. They will drop out of the guaranteed playoff spots in all likelihood.

However, the likes of Terry Rozier, PJ Washington, Devonte Graham and Miles Bridges are fighting their best. Bridges seems to have found his zone in his 3rd NBA season. His shooting stats are up from all ranges, and he’s taking better shots.

Bridges is also supplying us with a healthy stream of his usual high-flying dunks. There have been quite a few of those through the course of his career.

Miles Bridges posterizes Clint Capela with a Dunk of the Year candidate

We’ve been lucky enough to witness more posterizers this year than last season. The likes of Anthony Edwards, Zion Williamson and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been regularly featured with dunks on the NBA top 10.

Miles Bridges assured himself of the no. 1 spot on the rundown for today’s game. Just take a look at how violently Bridges brushes the Swiss center aside before making a power flush.

Bridges took an easy lane into the paint after an offensive rebound-cum-kickout by Cody Zeller. He then took a two-footed jump from inside the paint and landed the hammer blow over a despairing contest from Clint Capela.

The violence and pure power of this dunk cannot be overstated. Most replay angles don’t even do justice to how incredible Bridges’ ability to fly and throw down the hammer is.
