The Golden State Warriors are guaranteed a top-three pick in the NBA 2020 draft. And LaMelo Ball is prompted to be one of the top picks in the draft.
LaMelo Ball spent this past season with the Illawarra Hawks of the National Basketball League in Australia. The decision to play overseas has paid dividends, as Ball is regarded as a top prospect in this year’s draft class.
However, Lavar Ball, LaMelo Ball’s father feels that the youngest Ball brother would not fit in Golden State Warriors system. With Steph Curry and Klay Thompson leading the way, LaMelo might be forced to play in ‘fixed system’.
LaMelo Ball’s response to LaVar Ball’s comments
LaMelo took to twitter(in now what is a deleted) to respond to his father. It appears that LaMelo does not necessarily agree with his father’s statement, telling him to “chill.”

Then again, it is also very much possible that LaMelo was referencing the article itself. Perhaps he was telling everybody else(and not his dad ) to “chill” about persistently linking him to the Warriors. After all, him joining the Dubs is anything but a certainty at this point.
Why does LaVar Ball feel LaMelo will be a miss fit at the Warriors?
“They got Klay and the other guys, and now you want to put Melo in that mix to say you got to follow these guys. Melo ain’t no follower. He doesn’t need to do what they do, let them do their thing.” LaVar said this recently on the Say Less with Kaz podcast.
With LaVar saying that with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson present at the Warriors and running their plays, LaMelo might not get center stage with his style of play being the same as them.

And it is rumored that the Warriors aren’t that keen to get LaMelo Ball in the 2020 NBA draft. Instead, Warriors would rather eye Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, or James Wiseman.

What will the Warriors do for the NBA 2020 Draft?
The Warriors do have a great shot at the number 1 draft pick, owing to their miserable season this year. However, at this point in time it feels like LaMelo Ball might not be their top priority.
Tyrese Haliburton seems the best possible fit to GSWs system and it would be fascinating to see if they draft him in.
The 2020 NBA Draft lottery will take place on the 25th of August.
