NBA Finally Release ‘Unseen Footage’ Of Nikola Jokic ‘Actually’ Getting Drafted, Nuggets Social Media Recall Taco Bell Commercial

Seems almost surreal that a generational player like Nikola Jokic was the 41st pick of his draft class. What’s even more shocking is the fact that the NBA Draft actually went on a commercial break when the Serbian’s name was called out by deputy commissioner Mark Tatum. From getting drafted during a Taco Bell advertisement to making it to the Finals almost 9 years later, the NBA has released the actual footage of the Joker getting picked by the Nuggets. But the Denver franchise’s social media had other plans.

Considering his weight and sluggish style of play, Jokic was expected to be a solid role player at best. Much to everyone’s surprise, Nikola made drastic improvements in various aspects of his game. And a lot of his immense skillset went under the radar.

Today, the Nuggets’ leader is widely considered one of the greatest centers of all time with 2 MVPs under his belt. Nikola is just 4 wins away from lifting the Colorado-based franchise’s first-ever championship, the big man has finally been getting his dues.

NBA Twitter react to the video of Nikola Jokic actually getting drafted

The official Twitter account of the NBA recently posted the video of Mark Tatum announcing Jokic’s name. The unseen video from the 2014 draft was released ahead of the upcoming NBA Finals.

As soon as the clip went viral on social media, Twitter erupted with reactions.

As you can probably predict, the league got mocked, as users brought up the Taco Bell advertisement as a reminder. The Nuggets’ official account was one of many such users.

A user even commended Nikola for his “underdog story”.

Other users even hilariously stated how appropriate it would be if Taco Bell offered Nikola an endorsement deal or partnered with the franchise.

The Nuggets aim to win their first championship in franchise history

The Nuggets have had a fantastic year. Finishing the regular season with a 53-29 record, they entered the postseason as the #1 seed in the West.

After defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns, Mike Malone’s boys swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the WCF. Thanks to the 4-0 series win, the Nuggets get 9 days to rest and prepare for their clash.

With the Boston Celtics grabbing a win against the Heat, Denver’s opponent for the finals is yet to be determined. However, owing to their recent form, the Nuggets will be favored to win against either of the two franchises. The guy who got drafted during a Taco Bell commercial will get the chance to make history.
