NBA postponed : Why was Rockets vs Thunder game postponed today, when will it be played?

Rockets vs Thunder, scheduled to be played tonight, has been postponed due to unavailability of players with Covid concerns.

The NBA issued a press release this afternoon:

“The National Basketball Association game scheduled for tonight between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center has been postponed in accordance with the league’s Health and Safety protocols.”

“Three Houston Rockets players have returned tests that were either positive or inconclusive for coronavirus under the NBA’s testing program. Following the contract tracing protocol, four other players are quarantined at this time.”

“Additionally, James Harden is unavailable due to a violation of the Health and Safety Protocols. All orther Rockets players were tested again today, and all returned negative results. Houston has one additional player who is unavailable due to injury.”

“As such, the Rockets do not have the league-required eight available players to proceed with tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.”

When is Rockets vs Thunder postponed to?

The NBA has not released any replay date for this game yet. The Thunder and Rockets are scheduled to meet each other 3 times in total in accordance with their 72-game schedules. The other two games have been fixed for 2nd and 4th February 2021.

The likes of James Harden, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins should be available for those games, unless they get traded. No NBA player has contracted the Covid-19 virus twice yet, and the demographics make it exceedingly unlikely.

Harden has been fined $50,000 for going out in public in violation of the NBA’s Covid protocol. He’s been saved from suspension.
