Although considered a ‘Gentle Giant,’ Shaquille O’Neal can sometimes be very harsh and critical in analyzing the current generation of players and expects much more from them. One of the victims of his criticisms has been Nikola Jokic, who Shaq once disrespected by speaking in Russian instead of Serbian. The way the current NBA Finals are going, the Denver Nuggets and the Joker have indeed caught the attention of Shaq once again. The Big Aristotle showered, going against his usual behavior, Jokic with praise after his Game 1 performance, and considers the Nuggets star in similar ranks alongside himself as the best center.

Currently, the Nuggets lead the NBA Finals series against the Miami Heat 3-1. The Joker has been in phenomenal form, becoming the first player in the league’s history to record 30 points, 20 rebounds, and ten assists in a finals game. Indeed, he has beaten all the allegations of not being a playoff performer, which has impressed many, including Shaq.
Shaquille O’Neal considers Nikola Jokic one of the league’s best centers.
Shaquille O’Neal reposted an Instagram post that compares Nikola Jokic with the league’s best centers. The graphic includes the Joker as the most dominant center from 2019-2023, including Anthony Davis in New Orleans, Shaq during his time with the Heat and the Lakers, as well as Demarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol, and Dwight Howard.

While many in the post’s comments argue the legibility of the infographic, it seems like Shaq agrees with the post. He shared the graphic on his Instagram story, perhaps giving the nod to Jokic as the best center in the current era of the NBA. This might be a way for the Big Aristotle to tip his hat to the Serbian in creating a new legacy in the league.

Shaquille O’Neal was confident about Nikola Jokic reaching the NBA Finals
Despite his constant criticism, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley were confident in the Joker making it to the NBA Finals. They had made this prediction before the playoffs, showing their faith and trust in the Serbian. Speaking of this, Shaq had said,
“That they don’t have enough experience to get it done. We know, from experience, that regular season and playoffs are something different. We’ve seen quite a few teams have beautiful regular seasons, but can’t quite get it done in the playoffs… I agree with Chuck, he[Nikola Jokic] has to go to the Finals, and so does Joel Embiid!”
Jokic has definitely stepped up in his performance and has kept his word to Shaq. Currently, Jokic and his team lead the NBA Finals series, with fans hoping their best for the Nuggets star to win his first ring.
