Sports is one of the greatest things on planet earth. It is a source of every emotion. Happiness, sadness, anger, disgust. Sports has it all. Just ask Magic Johnson, the man went through a tumultuous range of emotions during his time.

But more than anything else, it provides us with entertainment. Sports is by far the most entertaining thing in the world, and in recent times it has gotten better.
In this day and age, regardless of how much money you have, sports can hit you with a loss at any moment. Even Magic Johnson, a serial winner is surprised by just how much parity there is in sports today. Especially between two of the biggest leagues, the NBA and the NFL.

Magic Johnson is surprised by the parity present in both today’s NBA and NFL
Over the years, many people have complained that sports have become unfair. It has reached a state where only certain big market teams are capable of winning.
However, if this season of both the NFL and NBA is anything to go by, then there is great parity in sports. Even Magic Johnson, the man who played for one of the biggest markets in sports, the Los Angeles Lakers, is surprised by how easy it is for any team to lose on any given night.
I haven’t seen this type of parity in the NFL and NBA in my lifetime. On any given night you can lose a game!

Small-market teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and the Milwaukee Bucks are thriving in the NBA. With both having rosters that could potentially win championships.
Magic has it right. It really is uncommon to see this kind of competition equally spread out. A lot of teams are now on equal footing. Although, his Lakers have been struggling recently.
Also, of note, Magic Johnson, the multimillionaire owns a piece of an MLB franchise and an MLS team. And he is also talking about parity in sports. Quite ironic.
Magic’s Lakers haven’t had the best start to the regular season
There may be parity in both the NBA and NFL, and while that is great for some teams, it hasn’t exactly been fun for some of the bigger ones. Case in point, Magic Johnson’s LA Lakers. The team in purple and gold has had a poor start to the 2022-2023 season.
They currently sit at twelfth in the Western Conference. Just outside the Play-In tournament spots. Safe to say things aren’t looking good right now for LeBron James and co.
