Stephen Curry and the Warriors are now down 2-1 in this all-time series against LeBron James and the Lakers. And frankly, rather than the loss itself, it is the way they lost that will be demoralizing. After all, this game had started to slip out of their hands before half-time had even commenced. And the fact that this game was effectively over by the time the 4th quarter hit is beyond worrying. After the game, when Golden State looks back at what caused their loss, there will be many different factors. But, out of all of them, JJ Redick identified the biggest one before the game even ended. And during the match, he teamed up with BBallBreakdown’s Coach Nick to explain what was going wrong with the team’s play. And in the end, it was what lead to their humiliating blowout in Game 3.

BBallBreakdown posts the mighty big error by Stephen Curry’s Warriors on Twitter
Stephen Curry has famously been a much-improved defender in the last couple of years. And of course, Draymond Green is still the Warriors’ Swiss army knife, being able to handle any kind of defensive coverage, while letting his co-stars do most of the heavy lifting on the other end of the floor.
That said, it appears that both these players, along with the rest of the team kept making the same mistake over and over again during the game when it came to an Anthony Davis action. And apparently, it was one that enraged Coach Nick enough to post about it on his BBallBreakdown Twitter account. Take a look.
“Draymond (Green) tried to lock this up like AD (Anthony Davis) is Stephen Curry”
Coach Nick is somebody that has garnered a lot of respect from the NBA community. After all, his mind for the game of basketball is beyond impressive. And apparently JJ Redick shares that sentiment towards him, as he found himself agreeing with the man. On Twitter, Redick decided to add a comment on Nick’s post with his own analysis of the big mistake the Warriors have been making.
“One of the most baffling things about the first 2 1/2 games of this series has been their coverage of this action”
As you’d expect, while Anthony Davis has been brilliant, this has been a major reason behind the man getting into a rhythm in the first place. When shots come as easy as this, of course, anyone would make a high volume of the shots they take.
And if the Warriors don’t adjust their coverage of this action in Game 4, the reigning champions could see themselves falling down all the way to a 3-1 deficit. And frankly, no matter how improved they have been since the start of the season, there is no coming back from that.
Simply to keep the brilliance in this series going, we sincerely hope Stephen Curry and his team can identify and rectify this before it’s too late.
