NBA fans go off on Patrick Beverley for taunting Phoenix Suns fans on losing Game 2 before ultimately losing Game 2 on DeAndre Ayton dunk.
If the Los Angeles Clippers were to hold onto the 7-point lead they had gathered in the fourth quarter, the unsung hero for the visiting squad would’ve most certainly been Patrick Beverley. The defensive-minded guard’s impact doesn’t translate all too well on a traditional stat sheet but his defense was definitely crucial down the stretch.

Everything from drawn out possessions while defending Devin Booker to a steal with less than 10 seconds left in regulation are what define what Patrick Beverley does. Although, that latter part was quite a controversial call as the ball clearly went out of bounds because of Pat Bev but touched Booker’s hand last.
Nevertheless, Beverley was out on the floor in crunch time instead of guys like Rajon Rondo, Terrence Mann, and Luka Kennard for a reason. Having the stout guard on your team also means you have to deal with the intangibles such as trash-talking, on-court fights, and in this case, getting into with fans.
Patrick Beverley prematurely celebrates a Clippers win and has it blow up in his face.
As highlighted before: Patrick Beverley is a pest. Almost every single thing he does when on the court draws out a form of aggression from someone else on the court or even off it. In the waning seconds of Game 2 with the Clippers up 103-102, Beverley was seen waving goodbye to Suns fans as he was confident in the Clips pulling this one out.
Pat Bev is walking the length of the court to wave at Suns fans and four other Clippers are trying to restrain him.

Unfortunately for Paul George and the Clippers, an incredibly executed out-of-bounds play by Month Williams to get a lob dunk for DeAndre Ayton with 0.9 seconds left on the clock has put the Clips in an 0-2 hole.
The moment between Suns fans and Patrick Beverley prior to the game-winning dunk was undoubtedly captured by cameras and NBA fans did not go easy on him for his cockiness.

Beverley’s play in this game was quite aggravating; the fouls on Devin Booker including one that most probably broke his nose riled up the crowd quite a bit. A little bit of ‘sweet revenge’ for Suns fans on that same day seems it is warranted.
