The Dallas Mavericks were knocked out in Game 7 of a series in which the home team lost 6 games. Clippers nation was finally able to seal a game 7 in front of a capacity crowd at Staples yesterday.
Kristaps Porzingis is the scapegoat on everyone’s lips after the Mavs got knocked out of the first round yesterday. The former Knicks big man has also spelled out how dissatisfied he is with things in Dallas in the media.
But this hasn’t prevented people from roasting him for his subpar performances. There are people blasting KP for not posting up and playing like a true big man. Then there are those who are critical of his defense and rim protection.
Overall, it’s not a nice feeling to be a Mavs player at the moment. A divorce between Kristaps Porzingis and Dallas seems imminent at the moment, though it’s unclear where he’ll go.
Kendrick Perkins brings up Russell Westbrook, blasts Rick Carlisle for misusing Kristaps Porzingis
Rick Carlisle is one of the most respected coaches in the NBA today. But he sure has come in for some criticism given his rotations and strategies through their first round against the Clippers. Perkins added fuel to the fire:
“RJ and Zach are straddling the fence right now, afraid to answer the damn question. And the answer to the question is, it’s time for a coaching change.”
“Don’t blame Porzingis, this is a guy that averaged almost 30 last year in the bubble. He wasn’t featured in the offense that paid him $30 million a year. Put this guy in position to be successful!”
“The ball cannot just be in Luka’s hands 98% of the time when we saw just last year in the bubble they were the highest-scoring duo in the bubble.”
“Put him in position. Run plays for him. Make him feel wanted. That is a problem. This is the same problem that happened in Houston last year with James Harden and Russell Westbrook last year.”
“I have information from a Rockets’ member of the coaching staff. He said that Russ wasn’t being treated like a star and he said he wanted to be treated like one, so he wanted out. Put a coach in the system that’s gonna demand 20 and 10 from KP, that is gonna run plays for him.”
