Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has cemented himself as one of the NBA’s true superstars with his emergence on the Oklahoma City Thunder. After being the focal point of the infamous Paul George trade package back in the summer of 2019, SGA has only grown as a threat on the offensive end of the floor.

6 players averaged over 30 points per game this 2022-23 NBA season and Shai was one of these six. He put up 31.4 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.8 rebounds a night for a Thunder team that was projected to win less than 25 games prior to the start of this season.
Instead, they won 40 games this year. Now, the Thunder face off against the New Orleans Pelicans to fight for the right to play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the final West play-in game.

Snoop Dogg praises Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Snoop Dogg has been rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers for decades now. He’s notorious for posting videos of himself bashing them for not playing up to the mark, most recently calling out the lack of shooters on the roster for LeBron James to pass to.
While he is a diehard Lakers fan, he isn’t limited to just praising them. When asked about who his MVP was for this 2022-23 NBA season, he mentioned the Converse athlete’s name.
“I kinda like that kid from OKC. What’s his name, the fella? I like that kid man, he’s a sleeper. He ain’t no big name kid but the way he plays- he plays like Snoop Dogg. He kinda reminds me of me, you know what I’m saying?” said the 51 year old.
“He kind of remind me of me.”

In a way, they do have a similar build in terms of how lanky they are. Neither is overtly muscular and well, that’s where the similarities between Snoop Dogg and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander pretty end. Snoop can still dunk the ball at 51 years old however which is something that should be commended.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his All-NBA candidacy
It’s quite obvious by now that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander needs to be on an All-NBA team for this season. Whether that’s the first, second, or third team is the question. JJ Redick recently took to his OM3 podcast to firmly state that Shai deserved to be in the 1st Team All-NBA.
His reasoning was due to the Thunder’s superior record over the likes of Luka Doncic’s Mavs and Damian Lillard’s Blazers while also talking about his 68 games played, higher than most guards in the league. Jeff Van Gundy during the broadcast for the Pels-Thunder game during the 3rd quarter claimed he can make 1st team as well.
