“My Era Was the Best”: Shaquille O’Neal Claims he Played in The Best Era of Basketball With Interesting Kobe Bryant IG Story
Shaquille O’Neal is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time. Having played in the NBA from 1992 to 2011, Shaq has witnessed three different eras of basketball. A huge achievement to say the least.
In 2K terms, The Big Aristotle has lived through the Jordan era, the Kobe era, and the Modern era. Three different times in basketball history, filled with some of the best players the sport has to offer. But, which one is the best?
Well, according to the four-time NBA Champion’s Instagram story, the Kobe era takes the cake. And, given the talent that was on display during that time, it isn’t that surprising.
Shaquille O’Neal shares an Instagram story claiming he played in the best era of NBA basketball
Over the years, the NBA has played home to many of the world’s greatest players. In 76 seasons, fans have had the pleasure of watching several greats. From the early days of George Mikan to the future of the league in Luka Doncic.
However, a common debate is about which era of the NBA was the best. Given that there have been more than 4300 players in the league, it is hard to settle on just one.
That being said, Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has given his answer. Sharing a story on Instagram, Shaq boldly claimed that the era which featured the likes of Kobe, Iverson, Jordan, and of course himself is the greatest of all time.

To be fair to Big Diesel, the NBA was probably at its peak in the talent department around that time. The aforementioned names aside, it’s hard to forget the likes of Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Paul Pierce, and the many others who thrived in that era.
Shaq isn’t a big fan of the modern style of NBA basketball
Today’s game focuses more on shooting and playing beyond the arc than it does the inside game. In other words, the modern NBA is a guard’s game. Something that Shaquille O’Neal, a traditional big man, isn’t a big fan of. And, the thing is he isn’t the only one. A number of NBA legends cannot stand how the game is played today.
There definitely are varying opinions on this topic. But, Shaq and many NBA legends are as sturdy as rocks. To them, the modern NBA will never amount to the style they played back in their hay days.
