Shaquille O'Neal Once Mistook the Parthenon for a Club and met "Baby Shaq" on his Greek Adventure

Shaquille O’Neal is a man of many talents and being thoughtful and considerate comes first. However, he might be mindless at times. For example on his Greece Trip, he made a blunder that irritated the Greeks. Oops. He thought a national treasure was a nightclub!

And we can forgive him for making a mistake but the size of the mistake is what matters. O’Neal’s was callous and it might even have caused a few fires.

So, when talking about Greek adventure, Shaq is careful. But what did he do and who did he meet?

Shaquille O’Neal recalls the time he mistook the Parthenon for a Club

Yes, imagine your nation’s most popular heritage site, known by millions worldwide as an ode to the beauty of Greek architecture, gets mistaken for a nightclub.

Only a guy like Shaquille O’Neal would do something like this.  When he recalled the Greek adventure, he said, “I remember I got mad when they asked me about the Parthenon, and I replied that I haven’t been to that club. I wasn’t well-read, and there was even an extensive article that said I don’t know Greek history. I know it now. I can’t wait to go back to Greece.”

Of course, it is very much in Shaq’s character to mess up something this bad. And while the Greek officials were not the ones faced with this erroneous issue, his Greek friends would not have liked it.

Shaq also met someone called “Baby Shaq”.

When Shaq met “Baby Shaq”

Speaking of his Greece encounter, Shaquille O’Neal recalls the time he met Skofoklis Schortsantis, a former player in the Euroleague, who was as dominant as the Lakers legend.

And that dominance earned him a nickname, Baby Shaq. He met him once, “Yeah, I ran into him when I was playing in Cleveland (2009-10).” Shaq said. And as per the 4x NBA champion, Baby Shaq could have been in the NBA.

“He could (have played in the NBA). Everything depends on opportunity and acquaintances. I think he wanted to play in Greece,” Shaq Spoke of him highly.
