The Memphis Grizzlies are in a load of trouble. According to Shams Charania, Dillon Brooks won’t be brought back. Now, Ja Morant has been suspended because of his stupidity, yet again. Before the 2023 Draft Lottery, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver talked to ESPN, where he discussed Morant and his future. Things did not look good for him. Shortly after, Shaquille O’Neal decided to take to Instagram to share a video of the Grizzlies star.

Ja Morant was initially suspended in March, after he allegedly threatened a teenager with a firearm. He missed 8 games back then, but those 8 games cost him an All-NBA selection, which in turn cost him $39 Million. Tonight, Adam Silver talked about how the league is assuming the worst and preparing for a decision accordingly.
It does not help his case that there are videos of him out partying in nightclubs. What doesn’t help his case either is Shaquille O’Neal sharing them on his Instagram stories for the world to see.

The Memphis Grizzlies were eliminated in the first round by the Los Angeles Lakers. It wasn’t particularly Ja Morant’s fault, but it didn’t help that he had a terrible Game 6. Since it’s the offseason, there is nothing against Morant enjoying himself and having a good time in a club.
However, seeing as what followed next, with the gun and Instagram Live, having such videos up on the internet doesn’t help his case at all.

Shaquille O’Neal saw the video and shared it on his Instagram story, just minutes after Adam Silver gave his speech about Ja Morant.

With the league deciding what the 23-year-old’s future is going to be, having such images and videos up on the internet is rather dangerous for him. Maybe that helped Morant come up with the statement that he issued earlier tonight.
Ja Morant releases statement
Ever since the incident, there was no sound from Ja Morant’s camp. Maybe it was his agent, or his team, who told him to shut up and wait for the right time. I guess Adam Silver’s speech on ESPN was the perfect time for him to issue a statement.
Ja Morant statement: “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”

It’s not the apology that people were looking for. We’ve heard him say this before as well, and I’m sure the league will remember that when they decide what they want to rule on the Grizzlies star’s future.
