Shaquille O’Neal has never been one to flex his outfits on social media. For as active as he is on Instagram, most of his content comes in the form of stories revolving around pop culture and NBA hoops. During his playing career, he did have a few questionable fits that he rocked but he never stepped outside for the sole purpose of trying to look a certain way.

Whether it was his all white suit that he rocked on the red carpet at the 2004 MTV VMA while still married to Shaunie O’Neal or his blue tank top with hoop earrings for 1994’s ‘Blue Chips’, Shaq did try to push the boundaries a little bit back in his heyday.
“I knew I was sexy then. Look at it. the guns are out, stomach tucked in. boy, I’m beautiful,” said Shaq regarding his all-white outfit. Nowadays however, it seems as though Shaq has had enough of people trying to showcase various fashion trends on red carpets.
Shaquille O’Neal on celebrities at the Met Gala
Shaquille O’Neal recently took to his ‘Big Podcast’ to talk about how celebrities at the Met Gala show up just to flex their outfits. He doesn’t seem to like this concept one bit as he had some choice words for whoever showed up to the Met Gala.
“A lot of people just want to be seen. I got a message to all you people that went to the Met Ball last night: sit your a** down. We see you. We know who you are. Sit down. I don’t understand it. I’m spending all that money on one outfit,” said Shaq.
He didn’t switch up his stance on the matter when Nischelle Turner brought up the fact that NBA players like Russell Westbrook, Dwyane Wade, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were there.
He would start to despise it even more when Spice Adams mentioned that guests who were invited still had to pay to attend the event. A solo ticket costs $30,000 while getting a table costs an ungodly $275,000. This varies from celebrity to celebrity, depending on their status within those circles.
A notable exclusion from the Met Gala was James Harden who is notorious for pushing the boundaries of fashion. He, of course, couldn’t go because his Philadelphia 76ers are currently in the Playoffs and instead of going to the Met, he dropped 45 points on the Celtics.
