"Steph Curry, welcome to the club": Klay Thompson and Magic Johnson call Warriors star the GOAT shooter, congratulate him for career high 62 points

Klay Thompson congratulated Steph Curry for posting a career-high 62 points on the board tonight on just 31 shots. The Warriors won 137-122 against the Blazers.

Curry was a man on a mission tonight in the wake of some disparaging comments from Damian Lillard. Curry had a quieter game 2 nights ago as the Blazers ran out 123-98. Clearly smarting from the perceived disrespect, Steph took the ball into the paint with gusto.

The way Curry pushed the tempo right off the bat gave the Warriors a self-belief hitherto unseen this season. They rallied behind their 2-time MVP for a well-earned 137-122 victory. The win tonight puts them back at the .500 mark. This is the first playoff team from the 2019-20 season that the Warriors have beaten so far.

Curry took 16 3-pointers on the night and made 8 of them. There was a point midway through the 4th quarter when Lillard and Steph exchanged 3-pointers. Lillard looked like he could help the Blazers draw level, but Wiggins stepped up to the plate once more.

Curry’s career regular season night drew admiration and applause from all quarters. But some people’s compliments mean more than those of others. Steph will definitely treasure this one from his Splash Brother.

Magic Johnson was also effusive in his praise for the 32-year-old.

For at least one night, the overblown debates about whether or not Dame is better than Steph Curry will subside. Through the course of his career, Steph has proved time and again that he’s definitively one of the greatest offensive players of all time. Tonight merely adds another chapter to a career anyone would kill to have.
