Stephen A Smith accuses Kevin Durant of intentionally omitting Russell Westbrook from his top 5 teammate list: “I don’t believe that he forgot; I was born at night, not last night”
Stephen A Smith verbalized what many basketball fans felt after the latest Kevin Durant podcast – he intentionally omitted Russell Westbrook.
Kevin Durant has found himself in all kinds of controversial, or at least questionable situations over the last few years. The Slim Reaper is apparently drawn to debates related to him all the time.
Durant also unwittingly places himself in positions prone to criticism. His latest interview answer to a question about his top 5 teammates of all time is a case in point. Westbrook is the longest-tenured teammate KD has had in his career, and also his most reliable one.
Failing to mention him in a top 5 is really suspicious and one could obviously view it as a slight. Durant was immediately corrected by the interviewer and he then placed Russ up there, but the slip-up in naming Ibaka and Klay Thompson ahead of Russ is in the ‘unforgivable’ realm.
Stephen A Smith talks about the Kevin Durant slip-up
Stephen A very much fell on the suspicious spectrum of people who listened to this podcast segment. According to him, KD’s omission of Russ was no accident or trick of memory:
“I don’t believe him, I highlighted the history that involves the both of them. I took into account what I saw, cuz I watched the segment on the podcast, ok? And I also brought up Serge Ibaka?? Kyrie, Harden, Steph, Klay, and IBAKA? Really?”
“I don’t want to get into anything regarding Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant, but we know the history. Come on man, I was born at night, not last night.”
According to Stephen A, Russ deserves to be on the list ahead of Serge, but he doesn’t necessarily think Russ was a better teammate than Klay Thompson. Smith talked a bit about how Klay is a better shooter and defender in support of this.
All in all, Stephen A Smith put the take out there that only the really popular talking heads can. He made it a matter of personal vendetta where there really might be none.
