Stephen Curry Joins Michael Jordan on Elite List, Earns Praise From Steve Kerr After Game 7 Against Kings

The Golden State Warriors relied heavily on Stephen Curry today as he took the game over. Making their way back to Sacramento for Game 7, the Warriors were facing their biggest opponent of the season, a road venue. However, Steph took over, put forth a magnificent performance, and in turn, ended up joining Michael Jordan on a very exclusive list. Steve Kerr even talked about both of them after the game.

After going 11-30 on the road this season, and 1-2 this series, the Warriors fans were a little jittery about their team’s Game 7 matchup. However, the Dubs weren’t worried. They knew they had their championship DNA to rely on. If that failed, they also have the greatest shooter in the world, Stephen Curry, on their side.

Steph erupted for 50 points on 20 of 38 shooting. He also had eight rebounds, six assists, and a steal to go along with it. Steph drew a lot of reactions from players on his performance, and from his wife Ayesha as well.

Stephen Curry joins Michael Jordan on elite list

Ever since the 2020-21 season, we’re seeing a different Stephen Curry. This version knows how to take over any game at any time and dominate the whole situation. He’s been incredible and led the Warriors to the Championship last season.

Steph’s Playoff success did not stop this year. In the seven games against the Kings, Steph averaged 33.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. With the 50-burger today, his tally of points for the first round of this year’s Playoffs went up to 236.

He joined Michael Jordan as the only player above the age of 35 to score 200+ points in a single playoff series. MJ did it twice during the 1998 Playoffs(ECF and the NBA Finals).

Yet another achievement where the only two names are just Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry. Having played with one of them and coaching the other, Steve Kerr drew comparisons between the two.

Steve Kerr drew parallels between SC30 and MJ

Steve Kerr has devoted a huge chunk of his life to the league. He’s spent almost 30 years in and around the NBA, and has seen a lot of players. However, there is no other player he likes to compare Curry to, except the GOAT, Michael Jordan himself. Talking about his shot-making tonight, Kerr said,

He then talked about how Steph and MJ were taken for granted because of their continued brilliance.

Kerr is onto something here. Oftentimes, we take a 30-point night from Steph as a regular occurrence and don’t give it much thought. However, those aren’t easy at all. Hopefully, the team and the fans realize this soon and start giving the man the love he deserves.
