"Steve Kerr, I'm going to Sacramento": Andre Iguodala played a brilliant prank on Bob Myers and Warriors' Head Coach in 2017 NBA Free Agency

A throwback to when veteran free agent Andre Iguodala trolled HC Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers during his 2017 Free Agency

When one thinks of the Warriors dynasty, there are a lot of names that come to mind. One thinks of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. However, an unsung hero of the entire journey is Andre Iguodala.

The 37-year-old veteran was a key player in the championships. He won the Finals MVP honors in the 2015 NBA Championship. Andre has 3x NBA titles, all with the Warriors. His run with the Warriors ended when they had to trade him to the Grizzlies to fall under the hard cap. Since then, Iguodala was with the Grizzlies but did not play even a single game with them. He was picked up by the Heat in the 2020 trade deadline, who offered him a $30M, 2 year contract, with a team option for the third year. The Miami Heat recently declined his team option, turning Andre into an unrestricted free agent.

Andre Iguodala pranked Steve Kerr and Bob Myers back in 2017

Andre Iguodala signed a 4 year, $48 million deal with the Warriors back in 2013. When the deal expired in 2017, Andre Iguodala was a free agent once again. Knowing he wanted to sign with the Warriors, Iguodala decided to have some fun. He went up to Head Coach Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers. There, Andre told them he was going to Sac-Town. The two didn’t know how to respond and wished Andre the best for his future. However, seeing that the two hadn’t taken the joke well, he said, ‘I got you suckers. I’m coming back.’

Well, with Andre being a free agent once again, there is a chance that they can sign the veteran swingman. There have been rumors of mutual interest among both parties. On behalf of Dubnation, I can say that all of us would be ecstatic to see him share a court with Steph Curry and co. again.
