NBA Insider reveals that Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are favorites to sign this Clippers forward in free agency

Stephen Curry is already 33-years-old. Granted, his playstyle will likely allow the player to potentially play well past the age of 35. But still, these are the golden years of the player’s prime, and the Golden State Warriors can’t afford to waste them.

Until now, the front office’s dealings have been a bit questionable. During last year’s draft, the franchise had the second overall pick. And while many expected them to include it in a trade package, they instead drafting James Wiseman. Just a reminder, LaMelo Ball was still on the board.

But, it seems that the franchise may finally be looking for players that can contribute. And if Anthony Slater of ‘The Athletic’ is to be believed, the Warriors’ next move could be a massive one.

Golden State Warriors could pair Nicolas Batum with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green next season

This wasn’t the name you were expecting, was it?

Still, this could be huge. Nicolas Batum is an incredible power forward who stepped up big time for the Clippers during this past playoffs. He can even slot in as a small-ball center when needed and can shoot the outside shot as well.

The 32-year-old ability to defend and offensive style would pair beautifully with the Warriors’ system, and it appears he knows it. Here is what Anthony Slater said on the matter.

“There is mutual interest between Batum and the Warriors, sources said. He’s currently in Tokyo, competing for France. But there is expected to be contact with his representation early in the free-agency process. Batum, sources said, understands how well he’d fit the Warriors’ system and, as a notable bonus, has an established relationship with new assistant Kenny Atkinson, who coached him last season with the Clippers.”

With Klay Thompson coming back, the franchise’s lineup could get a serious boost if Batum does indeed signs with the Warriors. A backcourt of the splash brothers, Wiggins and Green as forwards, and the Frenchman at the five?

Next season could be a fun one for Dub Nation.
