“The Dynasty Starts After You”: Dillon Brooks’ Grizzlies Exit Was Accurately Predicted by LeBron James’ Close Friend, Draymond Green

It looks as though for the Memphis Grizzlies next season, a certain loudmouth will not be making his return to the lineup. Dillon Brooks will likely be moved on and one guy saw this coming. From a mile away. Just a few weeks ago, Draymond Green, who also happens to be close to LeBron James, predicted this with stunning accuracy.

As per Shams Charania, it looks as though the Grizzlies will not be bringing back Dillon Brooks, who is a free agent. Who could see this coming?

Draymond Green, a veteran with an NBA savvy unlike anyone else could see through the facade that Brooks had erected. The media chose to focus on the glimmer of it all and was distracted by the truth.

Green, however, knew what was going to happen. The 11-year-old veteran has led many locker rooms and can quite clearly, grasp the mental framework of his colleagues. For him to call it out is nothing new. But to do it in the manner he did just oozes bravado.

Draymond Green once took to his podcast to dissect and disseminate Dillon Brooks’ character

On his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, produced by The Volume, Green was unimpressed by Dillon’s antics. He said,

“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies is not ready to compete for a championship. Look no further than this idiot right here. They’re depending on this guy to help them win a championship,” Green said. “And he says ‘his game is cool’. That just shows how little you know about basketball. You’re running around talking about a dynasty? The dynasty starts after you, not with you.”

The coldness and the astute deduction of Brooks’ frame of mind by Draymond are worthy of our respect. He was proven right as Memphis stumbled and failed to get past the 7th-seed Los Angeles Lakers.

Of all the people he could disrespect before a playoff round, Dillon Brooks chose LeBron James. One of the most accomplished players in NBA History. Of course, LeBron didn’t respond at the time and instead, he let his basketball game do the talking.

A thorough 4-2 series win, punctuated with a 40-point Game 6 destruction of the Grizzlies, proved that talking trash should only be done if you know who you are.

Brooks clearly didn’t know that. And it looks as though he might have run his mouth a little too hard. For all the vitriol we have dolled out, we don’t wish him harm but these series of events might have taught him a very valuable lesson.

He was even offered an extension earlier this season but talks stalled.

What the future holds for Brooks, no one knows. However, we do know one thing. He won’t be coming out to speak to the media anytime soon.
