“They Got a GOAT, We Got a GOAT!”: Draymond Green Anticipates a Stephen Curry vs LeBron James Battle in Warriors-Lakers Round 2

The Golden State Warriors made their way to Round 2 of the Playoffs. After fighting the ‘young’ Sacramento Kings, Stephen Curry and the Warriors will take on the ‘experienced’ Los Angeles Lakers. Playing against LeBron James, no one on the Dubs roster is more excited for this Round 2 matchup than Draymond Green himself. In fact, he even threw around GOAT several times to talk about the same.

Steph led the charge against the Kings earlier today, putting up a huge 50-point Game 7 performance to secure a 120-100 win. It was the kind of performance where it doesn’t matter what team you support, it’ll just make you go wow.

Kevon Looney had 21 rebounds, his 3rd 20+ rebound performance of the series. Heading back home, Draymond made sure to hop on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, and give the fans an insider view of the huge win.

Draymond Green’s excited about Stephen Curry vs LeBron James in the Playoffs again

The Golden State Warriors have played LeBron James in four playoff series, from 2015 to 2018. They were all in the Finals, with the Warriors taking a 3-1 winning record against the King. However, it’s been nearly five years since that happened. LBJ is in a different team, and the Warriors are a whole different team(barring the core trio).

The Warriors beat the Kings in 7 Games to advance to Round 2. The Lakers beat the Grizzlies in 6 Games to advance. What’s amazing for the Dubs is how they have the Home-Court Advantage, despite being the 6th seed in the West.

Talking about the upcoming matchup, Draymond had already shared his thoughts after the game. He’d talked about how we shouldn’t take Steph and Bron ‘for granted‘ and appreciate what they’re doing.

He continued on the same on the pod. Green said,

“It’ll be a good series. You’ve obviously got Steph vs LeBron. First time we’ve seen this since 2018. This is also the very first time we’ve seen this[matchup] before the NBA Finals… I’m looking forward to this matchup. It’ll be a hard-fought matchup, they’re not laying down, we’re not laying down. They got a GOAT, we got a GOAT. Gotta love it, I’m looking forward to it!”

It sure will be an incredible series. The Warriors will have to deal with the size of the Lakers. The Lakers will have to contain the speed and the shooting of the defending champions. Fun times ahead!

Steph talks about the upcoming matchup against LeBron James

Stephen Curry and LeBron James have played against each other quite a lot during their careers. He knows what the King is capable of, and the same is applicable the other way around. Steph showed great respect to Bron. He was also appreciative of how the Dubs have been able to maintain their quality since the first time they met LBJ back in 2014-15.

There is massive respect between the two groups, but that doesn’t mean this would be an easy battle. We can expect the teams to go hard at each other and make it a worthwhile battle. Can’t wait for Tuesday for Game 1!
