“Trash Celebration Joel Embiid”: Kevin Durant Goes At Sixers 7-Footer As Kyrie Irving Takes Them On During RivalsWeek

Kevin Durant has been out with an MCL sprain for about 3 weeks now, resulting in Kyrie Irving shouldering a majority of the offensive burden for the team as of recent. After 4 straight losses following the KD injury, Irving stepped up and showcased yet another reason why he may be the most skillful player in the history of the NBA.

In the 5 games that he’s played without Durant by his side following his injury in the Miami Heat game, he’s averaged 31 points, 6.8 assists, and 6.6 rebounds. Going into today’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Irving is riding the high of having dropped 48 and 38 points in consecutive games.

With NBA RivalsWeek in full effect, the league decided to pit the Brooklyn Nets against another Eastern Conference powerhouse, the Philadelphia 76ers. Unfortunately for the entertainment value of the game, Kevin Durant isn’t out on the floor playing, though he is on his phone, tweeting.

Kevin Durant hilariously sends out a bevy of tweets towards Joel Embiid

Kevin Durant has never met the Philadelphia 76ers in the Playoffs in his career but he’s had a couple battles with them during the regular season. The Sixers-Nets rivalry isn’t something that comes to mind immediately as Sixers-Heat and Nets-Bucks are ones that make more sense.

Though, the fact that Ben Simmons is currently on the Brooklyn roster and James Harden is in Philly makes it so that this game would most certainly be a highly televised one. In the midst of tensions running high at Wells Fargo Center, Durant fired up his Twitter and hilariously went at Embiid and company.

The ‘trash celebration’ bit refers to Embiid hitting a layup and going into quite the obscene celebratory action. It’s safe to say that the next time they meet on February 12th, if KD were to return by then, the game would be even more entertaining.

When will Kevin Durant return from injury?

Kevin Durant, after having Jimmy Butler land awkwardly on his right knee during the Heat-Nets game, would be diagnosed with an MCL sprain. He’s recently come out and stated that if he could, he would play as early as today and expressed regret over missing the Nets-Warriors game.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, KD has been progressing as per expected with no setbacks as of yet. He’ll be reevaluated in 2 weeks.
