Unlike Michael Jordan's The Last Dance, David Beckham's Documentary Intimately Includes His Wife Victoria

Three years after Michael Jordan’s Last Dance, former Real Madrid and Manchester United superstar David Beckham’s documentary on Netflix has gone absolutely viral. Fans have noticed a distinct difference in these two documentaries that definitely set apart the two sporting legends in some ways. While David Beckham’s documentary greatly focussed on his wife, Victoria Beckham, Jordan’s Last Dance somehow clearly missed out on showing his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy’s role during his final run with the Chicago Bulls.

Beckham’s documentary showed intricate details of his relationship with his wife, the ups and downs, and Victoria’s unwavering support and influence throughout Beckham’s legendary soccer career.

David Beckham’s documentary highlights his wife’s influence in his life unlike Michael Jordan’s Last Dance

Michael Jordan was highly criticized for omitting his ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy, from the Last Dance documentary. During his NBA career, Jordan was married to Vanoy, who had a significant impact and influence in pushing MJ towards success.

The Last Dance documented the Bulls’ 1997-98 three-peat campaign, featuring the trio of Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman competing one last time together. However, the docu-series more so became a narrative describing Jordan’s great career.

Even so, despite testimonials from several people involved, MJ’s ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy, was oddly absent from the episodes. Responding to all of these allegations, MJ’s daughter, Jasmine Jordan, reverted back with an explanation for her mother’s absence.

There’s no need to go down memory lane and bring up everything that has already happened when the proof is in the pudding. She was at the championship, she was at the retirement ceremony, we saw her in her glory in her best way. I don’t think there was a need to really rehash and go through it all.”

Three years since that docuseries, David Beckham has released his own series, which is now live on Netflix. Contrasting to ‘The Last Dance’, Beckham’s series greatly covers his relationship with his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

The very first episode of the series delved into the dynamics of their relationship, including the arguments they get into as a couple. Here is a clip of Beckham roasting his wife’s ‘working class’ upbringing in the documentary.

Nevertheless, the docuseries on Beckham does give fans a closer insight into the legendary England player’s career and life.

Michael Jordan’s divorce might have played a role in Juanita Vanoy’s absence from the Last Dance

A significant difference between David Beckham and Michael Jordan is their marital status. While Beckham is still married to his wife Victoria since 1998, Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy parted ways after a 17-year marriage. By the time The Last Dance came out in 2020, Jordan and Juanita had been separated for over 14 years.

Perhaps Jordan’s $168,000,000 divorce with his ex-wife might have played a role in her absence. However, diehard fans very well know Juanita Vanoy’s influence and contribution to MJ’s incredible NBA career. As Jasmine Jordan already clarified, Vanoy was there all throughout, supporting her ex-husband through the thick and thin of his career and their relationship.
