Having given $168,000,000 to Juanita Vanoy, Michael Jordan snubbing ex-wife from ‘The Last Dance’ got a surprising reaction from Jasmine Jordan
Michael Jordan released one of the greatest sports docuseries of all time when he decided to drop ‘The Last Dance’ in the spring of 2020. It came at the perfect time as families were cooped up in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so they had no choice but to fire up the series.
Jordan’s 10-part story about how him and integral teammates of his like Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Steve Kerr took the Chicago Bulls from irrelevancy to superstardom was quite the watch. Of course, it was more so an MJ documentary than a Bulls documentary at the end of it all.
However, given that it was very much Jordan-centric, there were several important figures in his life that were omitted. His first wife, Juanita Vanoy, who he was married to for 17 years was not present or even mentioned in the docuseries.
Jasmine Jordan on her mother not being in ‘The Last Dance’
Jasmine Jordan has built up quite the career for herself both at Jordan Brand and in the Charlotte Hornets. During the time of the ‘Last Dance’ having been released, she would do an interview with Essence where she was asked about why Juanita Vanoy, her mother, was not in the docuseries.
“There’s no need to go down memory lane and bring up everything that has already happened when the proof is in the pudding. She was at the championship, she was at the retirement ceremony, we saw her in her glory in her best way. I don’t think there was a need to really rehash and go through it all,” said Jasmine.
Juanita has not spoken up about her omission from ‘The Last Dance’ and perhaps this is because she was perfectly fine with not being in it. Michael Jordan has remarried as well, having tied the knot with Yvette Prieto in 2013.
Juanita Vanoy was given close to half of Jordan’s net worth
At the time of their divorce, Michael Jordan boasted a net worth of about $398 million. So, when they were set to separate, Juanita was given close to half of that fortune, walking away with $168 million, making it one of the most celebrity divorces of all time.
She’s donated a majority of that money to various charities and foundations. It’s unclear whether or not she’s delved back into the dating game however, as it is with Michael.
