Shannon Sharpe controversially takes Suns star, Chris Paul, out of his list of the top-5 point-guards of all time.

Chris Paul has quite simply been on a tear for the Phoenix Suns. After a very shaky start to this year’s postseason, the 36-year-old has slowly started to look like his prime self with every passing game. And when he plays that way, he is almost undeniably, the franchise’s most important player.
Given how perfect a floor general he has been throughout his career, many in the NBA community have agreed that the player has to be one of the greatest 5 point guards to ever lace up. And well, you don’t give the moniker of ‘Point-God’ out to just any NBA player.
But, it seems Shannon Sharpe has started to take a page out of Skip Bayless’s book in recent times. The former NFL player, turned analyst believes that Chris Paul can’t quite crack the top 5. And in a recent episode of ‘Undisputed’, he explained to the world why he so passionately believes this to be true.

Shannon Sharpe just can’t rank Chris Paul as high as most of the NBA community does in all-time lists
If you’ve been a fan of the NBA long enough, chances are you know who Shannon Sharpe is. A co-host of the show ‘Undisputed’, he often plays the role of the sane man, as opposed to the GOAT, Skip Bayless. But well, let’s just say his colleague may finally be having an influence on him. And it is not a positive one.
It is hard to imagine a time when Chris Paul didn’t compete at a high level. In fact, the player has been known to make those around him better, no matter who he is surrounded with. He has even been one of the best players on a contending team several times, which includes his current stint with Phoenix as well.
When you see all this, like many others, you’d be willing to believe CP3 is indeed a top-5 point guard of all time. But, if you did say that, you’d probably find Shannon lecturing you about how wrong you are.

Chris Paul is not a top 5 point guard
Chris Paul has done some unbelievable things, but it’s hard to have a guy in the top 5 with no rings and MVPs. Allen Iverson took a team that wasn’t very good to the NBA Finals. Chris Paul has been on some really good teams. https://t.co/EE2myecPB4

Now we are fairly neutral on Chris Paul. However, even we disagree with the analyst here completely.
First off, Allen Iverson arguably played the two more than the one. On top of that, he was a score-first guard, not someone you’d call a pure point guard.
And while the 36-year-old has never won MVP, he has indeed been in the conversation a few times, including this season. Add that to his ability to dominate in the postseason, and you have yourself a case that makes itself.
Simply put, there haven’t been many point guards better than Chris Paul so far in the league. And so, he is absolutely part of the top-5 point guards to ever grace the court.
