“Walked at 3 Days”: Jimmy Butler Once Channeled His Inner LeBron James, Got Caught for Lying About “Counting at 3 Months”
Jimmy Butler is one of those players for whom the moment is never too big. His competitive spirit is probably unmatched in the league right now and is in full display during the ongoing playoffs. The competition doesn’t end on the court, as told in an interview with GQ in 2018. However, much like LeBron James, there was not much truth in the statements he had passed. LeBron James has been caught lying by NBA fans multiple times in his long career. Butler seems to have taken a page from his book while describing his favorite past-time activity with his friends and the age he started walking!
While Jimmy Butler’s competitive spirit and on-court prowess are widely acknowledged, he found himself caught in a humorous exchange during an interview with GQ. Interestingly, he joins the ranks of NBA players, including LeBron James, who have been known to make exaggerated statements or playful fibs in interviews. This anecdote sheds light on the lighter side of these players’ personalities, showing that even the most talented athletes can engage in lighthearted banter and playful exaggerations off the court.
Jimmy Butler gets caught lying about Dominoes
Jimmy Butler might agree to not being the best basketball player on the court, but when it comes to the game of Dominoes, apparently there is no beating him. In the interview with GQ, Jimmy talks about his love for the game from a young age and how he learned to count through Dominoes. However, the Miami Heat superstar goes overboard with his answer and gets caught lying. Here is what he said:
“I started playing dominoes at a very young age, that’s how I learnt to count. So when I started counting, probably at 3 months and built all the way up to now. So from three months to now is when I started counting.”
Butler describes himself as the best player in Dominoes and claims to have never lost. Well, if we take Jimmy at his word, he has definitely had a lot of practice. The interviewer, however, was quick to call Jimmy out on his lie. When she told him that nobody is counting at three months, Jimmy decided to get more ridiculous:
“I am. Walked at 3 days. Let me, be me!”
Hilarious! Jimmy is not the only basketball player to make false statements on the camera though. LeBron James, probably the biggest name in basketball, has been caught lying multiple times to the media and continues to do so.
LeBron James has been caught lying multiple times
The Lakers superstar had many instances where his statements have been blatant lies. And LeBron knows it too. It’s not hidden from him that the media is well aware of his ability to dish out some false statements here are there. Recently, when Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement, LeBron acknowledged this fact and had this to say:
“I kind of knew the announcement was going to happen cause I shot the video a week ago. So people will probably think I’m lying about that too. I shot the video like a week ago so I already knew the announcement was coming. I just didn’t know which game and it happened today. But it’s still bittersweet.”
Even though the above is probably true, social media has been calling out LeBron’s lies over the years. At this point, anything LeBron claims to have done during an interview is considered a lie first and then checked for validity. However, it’s all in good spirits, and James’ seems to have fun with it too.
