“We want the Brooklyn Nets!”: Knicks fans send warning to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant following Game 2 victory over Trae Young and the Hawks
Knicks fans cause an uproar outside of Madison Square Garden, calling for the Brooklyn Nets following their Game 2 win over the Hawks.
There is no doubt that the most interesting series out East in terms of being competitive is the one featuring the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks. The Bucks-Heat series has been disappointing as Jimmy Butler hasn’t shown any flashes of his ‘Bubble’ self as they go down 0-2 to Giannis and the Bucks.
With the Knicks claiming their first Playoff victory in nearly a decade, it was expected that Madison Square Garden would erupt with pure joy from Knicks fans. After having silenced the MSG crowd with a game-winning floater in Game 1, Trae Young was the butt-end of a bevy of heckles from the 17,000 people in attendance.
The joy felt by Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden was shared with fans that were parked outside of the arena, watching the game on the big screen. Following the victory, the fans that were right outside of MSG decided to challenge one of the top tier teams out East.
Knicks fans send warning to the Brooklyn Nets.
Thought the Brooklyn Nets feature perhaps the greatest offensive trio in the history of the NBA, it’s quite clear who ever basketball fan in New York aligns their allegiance with. The Knicks run NY and despite the Nets having a relatively raucous crowd in attendance for their lackluster series against the Celtics, their love for Brooklyn cannot be compared to what Knicks fans feel for their team.
After having won merely a single game in the first round, New York fans gathered outside of Madison Suare Garden to chant, “We want Brooklyn!” repeatedly.

The confidence and enthusiasm seen from Knicks fans this season has been a sight to behold as they seem to be challenging Kyrie Irving and the Nets, with 3 more wins needed for their current series. Even if the Knicks were to advance to the second round, they would face off against the winner of the 1-8 seed series, which would most probably be the 76ers.
So if the Knicks want to have a battle of the boroughs, they’d have to best the Philadelphia 76ers first.
