"What happened to Kevin Durant on that possession?": Shannon Sharpe roasts Kyrie Irving for LeBron James take after Nets stars miss gamewinners against Wizards

Shannon Sharpe put Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on blast for missing game-winning shots last night against the Washington Wizards.

The Nets have succumbed to a sub .500 record with a 123-122 loss at home to the Wizards. Turnovers were the difference on the night as the Nets had a leaky game with 20 losses of possession. The Wizards, on the other hand, had the rare low-turnover game with only 7.

They grabbed 13 offensive boards – 6 more than Brooklyn. In total, they took a whopping 23 shots more (104 attempts to 83 for Brooklyn). This meant that despite relatively efficient nights for Kyrie and KD, both of whom shot 50% from the floor, the Nets were chasing the game.

When it came down to the final possession, Kyrie forced a three from the break and missed. The Nets corralled the offensive board and found Durant. KD went on a typically smooth drive, but bricked the shot as the game clock expired.

Understandably, people in the GOAT James camp were jubilant in their schadenfreude. Shannon Sharpe is perhaps the banner-bearer for the camp with his hilarious bits on Undisputed. His Twitter is a gold mine of comic relief in the same way.

Sharpe had criticized Kyrie Irving sharply for his dig at LeBron James on a podcast in October. That bit has since come back to bite the Nets guard as KD has missed two potential game-winners in the last 7 outings for the team.

The Nets will need to sort out their defensive problems and take care of the ball much better. If it weren’t for the Wizards pushing the pace so much, they might still have been able to cover these up. But games like this and the one against the Hawks have changed matters dramatically.
