Who is Rob Murphy? All We Know About Pistons' Assistant GM Accused of S**ual Harassment by DeJanai Raska

Who is Rob Murphy? In the modern NBA, names are made and destroyed in a matter of days. It could be one thing or it could be multiple. In the case of Rob Murphy, it was a swift downfall. The Pistons’ assistant GM had risen to great heights but after DeJanai Raska‘s s**ual harassment case, his time in the NBA met an abrupt end.

There is no room for people who come with the evilest of intentions. Especially when it pertains to one where the person is the aggressor.

In this case, Rob Murphy, a man whose career trajectory was set for the highest of heights had allegedly harassed a woman. The disturbed in question, DeJanai Raska.

She had a disturbing amount of information regarding Murphy’s advances. From groping her private parts to non-consensual kissing, the list of allegations was terrifying. And thanks to DeJani’s reporting of the crime, Murphy was quickly let go.

Who is Rob Murphy?

Before taking the role of Assistant GM, Ron Murphy was a coach. He was a renowned name in Detroit. Prior to joining the Pistons management, Murphy was the head coach at Eastern Michigan University, where he led the Eagles to two postseason appearances during his tenure.

During his time with the Pistons, Murphy was known for his ability to develop and mentor players, particularly on the defensive end of the court. He was respected by both players and fellow coaches for his basketball knowledge and work ethic.

In 2021, Murphy left the Pistons to become the head coach at the University of Akron. He was known for his leadership with the Pistons. The case with Rasai has left a scar on the Pistons franchise.

What happened exactly?

Seemingly as an assistant coach, Murphy acquired more power. He was able to leverage his position to court DeJani Rasai for a position with the Pistons. He wanted her to be his executive assistant.

But it turns out, he only wanted her for illicit reasons. One thing led to another and Rasai was in his employ. Here she was belittled and approached despite her rejection.

She filed a lawsuit recently and the Detroit Free Press did a big spread on her allegations. As of right now, Rob Murphy no longer works with the Detroit Pistons.
