"Why Do You Have To Be the Devil, Dennis Rodman?!": David Robinson Once Got in Bulls Legend's Face For Being Different

Dennis Rodman has always had the reputation of being just a little bit different from those around him. Especially during his time in the NBA, he would dress differently, talk differently, heck, and even play very differently.

Simply put, his behavior isn’t what anyone would consider being cliché by any stretch of the imagination. No, it was far different from anyone else on the face of this planet.

And on a certain occasion, a certain Spurs legend found it reason enough to voluntarily get in his face about it.

David Robinson once called Dennis Rodman ‘the devil’ for being so different in the way he acted

David Robinson had a squeaky-clean reputation during his time in the NBA.

He was the guy who had gone to enroll in the army but just grew too tall for it. And only adding to that was his family-friendly personality, which only boosted all the love for him.

However, it appears that not all is it seems. After all, despite his reputation, the man was more than happy to get in Dennis Rodman’s face during a flight, just to say something mean to him.

Here is what GQ divulged very recently on the matter.

“He (Dennis Rodman) bonded easily with anyone who could seemingly offer the kind of unconditional love that he longed for.

Which is why his time in San Antonio was such an uneasy fit. Of note was his frontcourt running mate David Robinson, the All-Star center, who didn’t play with the kind of toughness Dennis was accustomed to coming from Detroit, where they manhandled opponents and were prepared to win both the game and the ensuing fistfight. From the very beginning they were an awkward pairing. Dennis says that one time, on the team plane, Robinson interrupted Dennis while he was playing Nintendo with a teammate. ‘I said, ‘David? Why you looking at me?’’ Dennis remembers. ‘He said, ‘Why you got to be the Devil all the time?” I said, ‘What? The Devil? What are you talking about?’ He said, ‘You just got to be different from everybody’”

You may be thinking ‘what was Dennis Rodman doing at the time to prompt such a reaction?’

He was playing some Nintendo.

That’s it.

Dennis Rodman soon moved to the Chicago Bulls

Rodman was never going to be a good fit for the Spurs’ orthodox style of living. And so, after a while, it started to drive both the team and him absolutely crazy.

At the worst time of his NBA life, then came Michael Jordan, swinging in for his talents.

And when he took him to Chicago, the Bulls three-peated once again, almost as if it was expected.

Dennis Rodman may have been ‘the Devil’, but perhaps that is exactly what a certain GOAT was looking for.
