Wilt Chamberlain is almost a fable tale, surrounded by stories of his conquests. Conquests that are hard to believe today. No player after Wilt has ever come close to registering such stats. He is one of a kind in history. Even with the likes of Bill Russell, Jerry West, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar competing with him.

His numbers are a testament to his skills and abilities. Wilt Chamberlain was a freak of nature. He had a wingspan greater than anyone else in his time, with athleticism comparable even to Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 60s weren’t the most athletic or even competitive time. Lakers and the Celtics dominated the league. But even these great franchises had no answer for Chamberlain.
He registered multiple 70-point performances. In fact, he is the only player in history to score 100 points in a game. In this article, we remember every 70-point performance by Wilt Chamberlain.
Wilt Chamberlain had 5-games with 70-point performances
Chamberlain is easily the greatest scorer in history. No one else has ever managed to average a whopping 50+ and 40+ points in a season in their career. However, Wilt did in 1961-62 and 1962-63. Fascinatingly, these are the seasons when he registered all of his 70+ point performances.
His first one came in December of 1961. Back then, the 7ft 1″ center played for the Philadelphia Warriors. Wilt Chamberlain, along with his squad, faced the Lakers in a game on December 8th, 1961.
The Big Dipper exploded for 78 points and had 43 rebounds. Although Wilt played 63 minutes and registered a mythical stat line, the Warriors still lost.
His next 70-point performance occurred just a month later on January 13th. Chamberlain scored 73 points and this time carried his team to a win.
The 1962-63 season saw the legendary scorer register three more games with 70-point performances. Unfortunately, this was the end of a streak that would live on in history as nothing short of a spectacle.
Wilt also scored 100-points in 1961-62
Apart from his 5 70-point performances, Wilt also had a 100-point game. This was not added to the list above to keep the statistics more streamlined.

In a game against the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962, Wilt exploded for an incredible 100 points on 36-63 shooting. He also made 28 of his 32 free throws in that game. It’s safe to say that this performance will never be repeated again, especially in just 48 minutes of playing.
