“Y’all on that bulls**t”: Marcus Smart yells at Jayson Tatum and other Celtics players in Game 2 locker room meltdown
Marcus Smart was heard screaming at someone in the Boston Celtics locker room following another close defeat in Game 2 for the team.
The Celtics, who had a 13 point lead at halftime, played terribly in the 3rd quarter. They got outscored 37-17 in the period and fell 7 points behind the Heat at the end of the period. After going on a 17-5 run to start the 4th quarter and take the lead, they surrendered the game to the more experienced Heat. The Celtics could not deal with the inverted 2-3 zone Spoelstra played against them in the final stretches.
Marcus Smart’s locker room meltdown
Smart has been the Celtics’ locker room leader through this playoff run. He has the most playoff experience among the Celtics cast.
He has raised his level on both offense and defense in the postseason. But there are a few players in the team who haven’t been pulling their weight in this particular series. Smart’s exasperation with his teammates is understandable.
It will be interesting to see if this leads to hostile environment in the Celtics locker room, or if it in fact inspires them to script a comeback.

Someone needs to be holding their teammates accountable for defensive lapses. Given Smart’s pedigree on that end, it’s natural that he would be pissed off with haphazard performances.
The Boston Celtics find themselves in a deep hole right now. Nearly every team that goes up 2-0 in a series goes on to win it.
The Celtics need 4 wins in their next 5 games and the Miami Heat seem like a daunting prospect for every team in the league right now. Their combination of interior, midrange and 3-point scoring is rare, as is their eminently switchable defense.
