“You have to credit LaVar Ball”: Skip Bayless praises LaMelo and Lonzo’s father for his confidence and belief in his sons
Skip Bayless takes to Undisputed to credit LaVar Ball for staying confident in LaMelo and Lonzo Ball abilities and getting them to the NBA.
Taking it back more than 5 years ago, the talk of the basketball world was centered around the 3 Ball brothers who all played for the same high school basketball team in Chino Hills. The ‘mastermind’ behind marketing the Ball brothers was their own father, LaVar Ball.
His eccentric personality had the whole world believe Lonzo Ball, who was a high school senior at the time, was somehow better than 2016 Steph Curry.
The marketing genius went on numerous shows to debate the legitimacy of his sons’ talents, most famously being his shouting match with Stephen A. Smith on First Take.
While LaVar was trying to build up hype around Lonzo Ball to get him to the Lakers, he remained firm in one belief: LaMelo Ball will turn out to be the best out of all three of his brothers.
Fast forward today to a world where Melo is the clear frontrunner to snag Rookie of the Year honors.
Skip Bayless compliments LaVar Ball
Following LaMelo Ball’s form as a starter in February, Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe sat down and discussed the rookie’s game. “This kid LaMelo Ball is beyond gifted. He’s doing it effortlessly with a smile on his face, like he’s toying with the game,” said Skip.
Skip then added on Twitter:
“I gotta credit our man LaVar Ball. He sat next to me 3 years ago at this table and flat out said that his youngest will be the best.”

With LaMelo and Lonzo gaining success in the NBA and LiAngelo Ball in talks to enter the G-League, the narrative about LaVar’s brash comments has changed positively.
