Nemanja Matic on Mourinho

Nemanja Matic on Mourinho: The Serbian midfielder spoke to media in the press conference before the match against Valencia.

Manchester United are facing a crisis, both on and off the field. The feud between the manager and the player is a poorly-kept secret, and the video of Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba arguing during a training session has only worsened the situation.

The club’s performance on the field does little to help the cause, as Manchester United suffered their third loss in the Premier League in seven games last weekend. Mourinho’s men went down 3-1 to West Ham United, after being ousted by the lower-league side Derby County within the space of four days.

The club’s midfielder, Nemanja Matic, echoed the sentiments of the supporters as he spoke to media for the pre-match conference. Manchester United will take on Valencia in the second round of the group stage in the Champions League.

Matic talked about the criticism of Jose Mourinho after the defeat against West Ham United.

“It’s always difficult when you lose games and especially when you play for a big club that wants to win trophies. It’s very hard but this is football, this is life. Everybody wants to do better, everyone is trying to resolve this situation,” said Matic.

“The manager is trying to turn this and to try to make the team stronger and ready for the next challenge. Everyone is giving their best to do better for the team.

“Saturday was one of my worst games since I joined Man United, I look in the mirror and ask where I need to improve.

“On Saturday we didn’t play well but we give our best, for sure the manager is going to tell us why we didn’t play well. The game was really bad but everyone has responsibilities. I don’t believe any player goes onto the pitch to not give his best.”

Manchester United are currently 10th in the Premier League and will take on Newcastle in the weekend before the players head off to the international break.
