Neymar misses Ballon d’Or ceremony: The footballer opted to stream Call of Duty on Twitch over attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career as he beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann for the honour. The Croatian midfielder also won the FIFA Best Player of the Year and UEFA Player of the Year award earlier this year.
Many footballers missed the Ballon d’Or ceremony, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Brazilian forward Neymar was another big name to miss the ceremony.
However, the reason behind the PSG star forward missing the Ballon d’Or is now revealed.
Neymar missed the ceremony because he was streaming action-game Call of Duty on Twitch.
Seriously.
Neymar finished 12th in the Ballon d’Or list, as his season with PSG ended in March due to a severe injury before the Champions League clash against Real Madrid. He featured for Brazil in the World Cup, but failed to lead the side to victory in the tournament.
Neymar played the game with his fellow PSG teammates, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian is not the first footballer to broadcast his gameplay. Zlatan Ibrahimovic streamed a game online on the same website, while Mesut Ozil streamed Fortnite.
The fans reacted to Neymar’s decision to stream the game instead of attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Neymar literally skipped the Balon D’or ceremony just to stream Call of Duty on Twitch. I love this man. pic.twitter.com/4sezFhSZOm
