Neymar to Barcelona: Former Blaugrana star confirms Neymar’s desire to join Spanish giants once again

Former Barcelona midfielder Rivaldo has confirmed on Instagram that Neymar is looking to join Barcelona.

The Brazilian, who played for Barcelona between 1997 and 2002, divulges that the PSG forward’s decision to leave the Spanish giants was a mistake, and wants the board to not let him join any other European club. Placing a transfer request, Neymar is sought to leave Paris Saint Germain this summer, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid in the fringes continuing to battle for his signature.

The reigning Spanish Champions have sent Philippe Coutinho out on loan to Bayern Munich, leaving space for another attacker to fill the left void. Although Ousmane Dembele can complete a ferocious forward line, the welcomed addition of Neymar would take the club’s attacking department to another level.

Rivaldo’s post reads as follows: “We know everything that happened to Neymar. His departure from Barcelona was wrong, never he should have left one of the biggest clubs in the world. But he is eager to come back and assume what he did. May the president of Barcelona and all of the board don’t let Neymar go to another club. I hope you settle with PSG and come back from where he never should have left. Visca Barca.”

Barcelona signed Neymar from the hands of Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 for €57 million. The Brazilian scripted an unmatched legacy alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi in the forward line – going on to clinch the La Liga twice and Champions League once.

He formally submitted a transfer request in 2017 and sealed a move to Paris Saint Germain for a world-record fee of €222 million. During his four-year stint in Nou Camp, Neymar made 185 appearances, scoring 105 goals.

He shone under the management of Gerardo Martino and Luis Enrique before leaving the club on bad terms. Albeit the past history, the Spanish giants board are currently rumoured to be in Paris negotiating a deal for the forward.
