Here is why Barcelona have failed to reach an agreement with PSG for Neymar.

Barcelona have failed to reach an agreement with Paris Saint Germain for Neymar.

There was a growing optimism after clearing out Philippe Coutinho’s wages in order to cut down financial regulation complications. The Brazilian was supposed to make way for another Brazilian, but the deal is as good as dead because of a major hiccup.

During the initial stages of the negotiations, the French Champions wanted to include the right-back Nelson Semedo. In reply, the Spanish side intimated their stance to keep the young defender, while offering the midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

The midfielder was also kept out of the clash of the starting lineup against Osasuna in the weekend. After agreeing a deal with PSG last summer, the Croat finally had a chance to move to Paris with nil perplexions. However, the deal failed to materialize because of Ousmane Dembele.

According to Goal, the Frenchman was offered to Paris Saint Germain on a season-long loan. Persisting injury problems have frustrated the Blaugrana, who were hoping that he would agree a move to his home country. But, the forward, who made his move to Nou Camp move in 2017, has denied moving away from Barcelona.

While a fresh start might have seemed a good idea, the attacker was not coy on money, as he continues to plot his long-term career with the Spanish side.

Neymar, meanwhile, has been told to pair up with his Paris Saint Germain teammates after his international commitment gets over in a week. He has been selected for the Selecao to play against Colombia and Peru in friendlies on September 7 and September 11.

Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to reintegrate Neymar into the PSG side and continue their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 campaign when they host Strasbourg on September 22.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Barcelona were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Osasuna on Saturday and they will be hoping to put things back on track after the International break.
