Peyton Manning and Dan Campbell

With the NFL being in its final few weeks, only eight teams remain active for the season. As the remainder of the teams began their off-season, so did some downtime for the athletes and the coaches. Detroit Lions head coach, Dan Campbell, took some time to have a conversation with the Manning brothers. Campbell was in conversation with Peyton and Eli Manning, where the trio got a little candid about a recent incident.

The Packers hosted the Lions at the Lambeau on a very cold day in Green Bay. With temperatures ranging between a high of 30 degrees and a low of 21, the Lambeau made for the coldest game week 18 venue. The Lions won the contest by a marginal 4 points. Containing Aaron Rodgers to just one touchdown, the Lions’ defense was on top of their game.

Their solid defense was partnered with Jamaal Williams being a problem for the Packers’ defense. With an overall good showing, they were able to crush Rodgers’ playoff hopes. While the cold didn’t hinder the Lions’ performance, it surely did hinder their head coach, Dan Campbell’s, appearance.

Green Bay weather does Dan Campbell dirty

Along the sidelines, Dan Campbell’s nose appeared to turn red as the wind kept hitting the turf at the Lambeau. The Manning brothers got in on this action as they joked with Campbell. Eli Manning and Campbell have both played for the Giants. However, they were in New York at different times.

Peyton Manning started the festivities by pointing it out to Campbell as he asked him about his situation. “Looking at your nose, outside in the cold, how important is it for the Lions to get home-field advantage next year?” questioned Manning, as he laughed. A sport, Campbell also laughed this off and gave a response you would expect any meathead of a tight end to give.

“The last thing that I am worried about is my nose. If that thing falls off, I don’t care where we are at, we’ll just keep going. We’ll figure out something else. I’d get a piece of wood and glue it on. It would be nice if we could host, though,” replied Campbell.

Eli Manning joined in on the party as if this weren’t enough roasting. He brought back imagery of former Giants head coach, Tom Coughlin. “I have been to Greenbay in January, it is cold but where do you think your nose ranks on the Tom Coughlin Lambeau scale though? Who had a worse experience?” said the former Giants’ quarterback. There was a moment of just laughter as Peyton Manning and Dan Campbell chuckled about this for a good few seconds. The Lions’ coach finally responded by saying, “I think he had it worse, but I’m sure he’ll tell you that.”

All in all, it was just good, friendly banter among the three and made for a light moment as Campbell began his off-season on a high. He will look to come out stronger next year.
